Every day, AI (artificial intelligence) becomes a more regular part of our daily lives. And while AI features are increasingly commonplace, it is still a new and novel technology to many. Here at Doodle, we want to be transparent about what kind of AI technology we are using, and provide our users with best practices for using AI-powered technology safely.

What AI does Doodle use?

Currently, Doodle uses AI in two ways:

  1. With Doodle's Group Poll, you can choose to use AI to generate a description of your meeting

  2. Our AI assistant, located in the widget in the bottom left of the screen

The Group Poll meeting description generator is powered by Open AI, and the AI assistant is powered by a mix of models, including GPT-4.

What does 'powered by' mean anyways?

When any organization uses AI to enhance one of their product's features or as an adjunct to their product, it means that they are using another company's AI technology. Because of this, it means that any information you provide that is ingested by AI is accessible to two companies: Doodle and an AI organization such as OpenAI.

How to use Doodle's AI-powered technology safely

Because any information you provide that is ingested by AI is accessible to two companies, you will want to be sure that you are responsible with what you share. Doodle will never ask for your passwords, payment information, or anything that does not pertain to your Doodle account (government-issued identifiers, any financial records, medical records, etc.). Never provide this information either to our AI assistant or in the title of your group poll.

How to use Doodle's AI-powered technology effectively

The type of AI that Doodle uses is called 'generative AI', which produces a text response to text-based input. It learns and responds to natural language, meaning that in order to get a good response to your question or provide a meaningful AI-generated description, you must provide it with a meaningful and high-quality input.

For example, let's say you want to ask the AI assistant how to upgrade your Doodle profile from a free to paid plan.

Bad examples of how to ask this question:

❌: Upgrade

❌: Pay

❌: Doodle Pro

Instead, ask:

✅: How do I upgrade to a paid Doodle plan?

The first three examples are too vague. 'Upgrade' can mean many things, including free to paid, or small team plan to large team plan. 'Pay' may be construed as asking how to pay for your existing Doodle Professional plan, or how to use the Stripe integration. 'Doodle Pro' may result in receiving a list of features that are included in the Doodle Pro plan, not information for how to upgrade to it.

Asking 'How do I upgrade to a paid Doodle plan?' is clear, concise and direct and will result in a clear, concise, and direct response.

All Doodle users with a free or Pro account have access to our AI assistant via the support widget. To use the support widget, please note:
